Just curious if anyone knows why such a worldwide sport like Formula 1 racing doesn't have trading cards?

There have been a few F1 sets over the years.  I think they just haven't sold well enough to entice any company to issue an annual product.

Looks like they are going to get it wrong though. As I said in my yet-to-be approved comment on there, I'm both disappointed and happy at the same time. Happy that F1 is getting cards, disappointed that I won't be able to afford them. 

I suspect they will do poorly due to the price point, Topps will say "racing doesn't sell" and quit on the sport, when it's really their marketing that is the reason it's not selling. 

Thanks for the article Billy. It's good to see some F1 stuff again, but to me, if you want to drum up interest, maybe starting at the highest end of the market isn't the best strategy. I would love to see these kinds of cards be the inserts in a larger set with the team bosses, and some other personalities, like retired drivers. If you want to get people hooked, make your product more easily available.
