Has anyone bought commons at a card shop lately? Are they selling at exact Beckett prices?
Thanks, Phil

Most shops around me have given up on commons and nothing's under $1

At my LCS I usually go through a box of commons set out on a table in the middle of the store. The cards are sorted by sport. Last week I picked out a Gianluigi Buffon and Jake Guentzel base cards and put it in with the packs and supplies I was purchasing. The owner always throws the common singles in at no charge. Course I have been shopping at this store for well over ten years so that may help.

Around here, one store strictly sticks by book value and the other one will give you a total price depending on what you buy. I have seen some out of town stores pushing customers to use their website to order the commons they want

At one of my local stores, commons are nominally 25 cents but usually heavily marked down or just thrown in with whatever else is being purchased. My other usual store just asks for offers.

I asked my local shop if they had boxes of commons to look through and they looked at my like I had 5 heads. The only ones they have are local team commons.

Card Shop???? What are they??? Around here they went bye-bye with Card Shows.
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR COMMONS, ask ~Bob~ at BOBSCARDZ, I have 4 rooms of commons ! lol. And they are cheap, $.25 yikes!, SPORTSLOT even bottoms out at $.18.
Setting a single card price doesn't work for me, I prefer bulk trading where I send 100 cards for trade, If I sold them maybe, just maybe $.05 / card.

I'm with Bob, havent set foot into a LCS in well over 20 years..Ok, maybe 15..
I'd think for inventory purposes, keeping thousands of commons around does them no good..they want the high dollar cards to sell to people..

How close do you call a shop LCS?
The last 4 shops I have gone to are 35 to 75 minutes drive for me. (one way) Over a year that I have been to any of them. 3 of the 4 the sports cards are a small part of the shop. 2 of the 4 has a large back room full of cards. All of them do most of their business on-line.
When I have find a few cards I need in the few boxes of commons they have given me them free.
