In 1990 or 1991 I bought three wax packs of 1986 Topps FB and pulled two Jerry Rice RCs. I ended up trading one of them for a Bob Hayes RC and a '66 Don Meredith. This February I traded the other one along with a few other cards for a 5k box of vintage baseball cards.
In 2018 I pulled a Topps Baseball Khris Davis cyan printing plate which I sold for $20 on Ebay. I also pulled a Rhys Hoskins SSP that I sold on Ebay for $84.
My favorite pull all-time was a 2012 Topps - Factory Set Gold Chrome Willie Mays out of a repack from Walgreens also in 2018 because I didn't expect to get anything but trade bait from the pack.

Last year while visiting the States I pulled a Ryan Borucki Auto from a Gypsy Queen pack I bought at either Target or Walmart. Can’t remember which, but it was one or the other. They were the only places I bought cards.

I bought enough 2011 Topps Update to hit 9 Mike Trouts. I sent them off to be graded and got 7 PSA 10. That is definitely my best retail hit at Wal Mart. I bought a Hobby Box from 2019 and hit a 150th Anniversary 1984 Acuna Autograph. That's my Best Monetary Value to date.

Adrian Peterson jersey letter card from the Pro Bowl of which he was MVP. SN 1 / 1.

I saw the best cards of my generation destroyed by creases, soft cornered hysterical edge wear, dragging themselves through the hobby shops at dawn looking for a top loader...

I once pulled a 1/1 Black Border rookie of Kyle Schwarber from a blaster. As a Cubs fan, that is my best pull ever

I forgot to add one to my post before (actually 3 of the same card). For a different type of retail, I bought some of the Utz multi-pack chip bags last year to get some of the Topps Utz baseball cards. In all 3 of the packages I bought, one of the 4 cards in each pack was Javier Baez. With a BV of $8 each, that's a pretty good return for $4 worth of potato chips each time I bought them. I still have one copy that hasn't been traded or sold yet.

I've had some good luck with pulls...
Pulled a 2017 Heritage 1/5 Ryan Healy/Jharel Cotton from a FLGS that is no longer in business. :(
Pull a 2018 Donruss 1/2 Justin Smoak - Walmart - lowest count I've ever pulled.....no 1/1's
Pulled this 2018 Heritage 11/25 - Phil Neikro auto/patch from a late night Walmart milk run....hey, family needed milk....I needed cards
Pulled this 2019 Bowman Platinum 2/10 - Freudis Nova - from a mega box from (same) Walmart..
Before our local Kmart went under I was buying cards there....but stopped after buying a couple packs and getting 82 fleers and donruss in them.....VERY OBVIOUSLY searched....

My luck in retail has been with Target.
I pulled a Michael Ballack autograph out of one of them Panini products blaster packs. Even though it showed him in his Chelsea shirt I still kept it.
The other was my Connor McDavid Young Gun out of a tin purchased at Target. Got it graded and came back as a BGS 9.5. I bought a boat load of hobby Upper Deck hoping to get the McDavid and nuthin' until I purchased the tin at Target.

Over a course of 6-8 weeks in 1982 I pulled 8 Cal Ripken Jr Future Stars cards (Topps). I still have them today, and although the value seems to decrease each year, they are my favorite pulls.
