Curious what your most recent or best ever pull from a retail pack was? I got my best inserts and gimmicks when there was still Toys R Us. Now it's just Walmart and Target for me. I think I get better cards at Target.
I pulled a Bellinger Topps SSP and some cool relics. Never pulled an autograph or anything with a serial number under 50. How about you all? Share your cool pull story.

Two off the top of my head are a 1/1 J.P. Crawford 2017 Bowman Platinum from Walmart. Not a Crawford fan and eventually traded him to a Philly collector, but was the first and only 1/1 I've ever pulled or owned. I also pulled a Votto jersey card from a 2016 Heritage pack last year. It was on the discount pile at KMart. Almost wasn't fair though. It was the outermost card along the translucent wrapper and I could see it while holding the pack.
No autographs, SSPs (or even SPs) or anything special after that though.
Edit: Just remembered a big one. During my non-collecting years I occassionally bought a pack or two at the base exchange, opened them and put them into a shoebox. A few years ago when I decided to rejoin the hobby I went through the box. In there was a 08 Stadium Club Kershaw RC. Also had a 10 UD Bumgarner, but Kershaw is the bigger one here.

In 2016 I pulled a Auston Matthews Upper Deck Rookie Card at Target. The pack came in a tin box. I like buying blasters at Target. The rest of my card purchases are done online. I don't have a LCS by me.

In 2003 I pulled a Dale Earnhardt Jr. autograph from a single pack purchase from the Target in Kingston NY. It remains my favorite pull ever, and my favorite NASCAR card in my collection. The fact that I pulled it...from a single pack!...means even if I get another autograph of him, it likely won't be able to top that one, since cards I pull carry more weight in my mind than those I buy. Furthermore, I had mostly been ignoring my NASCAR cards because I didn't care for Press Pass. But that got me to pay attention to them properly, which I have ever since.
Most recently, I pulled a SN10 parallel of Kevin Harvick from a blaster of 2020 Donruss last week.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. My best ever was out of a 2017-2018 Donruss Optic blaster box. I got a Signature Series Jayson Tatum blue parallel SN / 25. Overall I have actually had pretty bad luck with retail other than that.

In 2001 when K-Mart still existed before it went on life support, I bought a retail box of 2001 Donruss baseball and pulled a Diamond Kings Reprint autograph of Paul Molitor. The very next day I went to another K-Mart location in town and bought a retail box of '01 Donruss baseball and pulled an All-Time Diamond Kings Studio Series Autograph of George Brett. Consecutive days! Talk about some strange luck.

Awesome pulls. Especially the Kmart autographs. Keep the stories coming. Back in the early 90s I bought one pack of Autobilia. Got a redemption card for a signed mini Orlando Magic basketball by David Vaughn. Still have it.

One of my favorite packs ever was the only 1994 Donruss Triple Play I bought. Only regular cards, but it had McGwire, Deion Sanders, Piazza, Jay Buhner, Griffey Jr, Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling. Oh, and a Padres card (Archi Cianfrocco).
Can't recall getting that many good players in a single pack. Nothing against Jeff Blauser, Wayne Kirby, Craig Paquette and Jeff Russell who were also there.

I've had lots of good retail pulls. But a few stick in my mind. The best would be a Dale Earnhardt Jr. multi-color Race-Used Sheet Metal card SN5 from a 2016 Prizm blaster. I didn't actually get that one in a store. I bought into a case through a friend who got the case from a wholesaler. Another good one AT THE TIME was an Aaron Hernandez RC AU from a rack pack of Topps Chrome. That was before the murder and his death. Luckily, I traded that one away before it lost most of it's value.
Of course, the best one ever and probably for the rest of my life is the 2000 UD Ultimate Victory Tom Brady RC SN2000 from a single pack. Yeah, I had to hold on to it for many years before the value hit triple digits, but it's definitely the best card I've ever pulled from retail.
