You all missed it. It's a scam. Donruss NEVER put gum in their packs.

That's how Donruss and Fleer were able to produce baseball cards. A loophole in Topps' contract that said they had rights to produce baseball cards with gum. So Donruss put puzzle pieces in their packs and Fleer put stickers in their packs.

Donruss and Fleet both had gum in their packs in 1981. Topps then took them to court and forced them to stop inserting it.

They both started that practice in 1982 after Topps countered.
