I was just wondering, with the social distancing and the unknown future of public gatherings - when do you all think there'll be another card show in your area? All of our local ones have been postponed and I think they'll postpone the National in July.
Out of fear or judgement, when do you think the hobby will get back to normal in the social sense?

August at the earliest, if we are lucky, is my best guess, but I'm accounting for the state I'm (and you) are in. I miss going to the Enfield and Plainville shows.

Hobby wise I think things will get back to normal next year. I now that some of the releases have been delayed. I wonder if some future releases will be cancelled.

Even beyond shows, thinking about shops. I know personally I wont be attending a show or going to a shop to dig thru singles for the next year. Theres no way to safely allow people to shop when it requires everyone flipping thru & touching the same cards.
I do see others being OK with it within the next 6 months so I'd say they will likely reopen shows before Christmas.
As for the national, I see no way at all they can host it this summer.

I was bummed because the last one in my area was cancelled due to covid (WI). Up here they generally stop doing them during the summer anyway so we usually wouldn't see one until Sep or Oct. My guess will be there won't be any happening in 2020 and I won't be surprised if I don't see any until the fall of 2021. I'm afraid that until there is a vaccine or a treatment is developed where it can be controlled similar to the flu today that nobody will try to schedule probably both due to risk and dealers not wanting to buy spots for fear of nobody showing up.

There's a monthly show in Mansfield Mass. set for Memorial Day weekend that hasn't canceled yet. And a weekly show in Woburn Mass. that I haven't seen any cancelations yet. I wouldn't take any chances myself, at least until next spring.
