I traded (read: indirectly bought) for a 3200 count box of 1966 - 1979 Topps last weekend, and I've been adding them to my trade inventory. The thing I love about getting cards like this, especially vintage, is finding a player that I don't collect, but liked as a youth, and the collecting relationship thus begins. 

Joe Rudi is the latest to enter my PC as I found his RC and a couple of other cards in this lot. So I quickly go to pull all my Rudi cards from my Trade inventory to make them part of my personal collection. Rudi was part of those great A's teams in the '60s/70s. Not a HOFer, but one I really enjoyed rooting for, and now part of my ever-growing baseball PC.

That's cool. 

Rudi was part of the first cards that I owned, gifted to me by a cousin. I still find that the players I received that day are part of my chase cards. Most weren't as good as Rudi but just as important in my eyes.

I love buying lots of cards. From very early on in my sports collecting days, that has been my preferred method of adding new cards to my collection. Mostly in the form of repacks, which I used to be able to find all the time. 

I have been looking, unsuccessfully to date, for mixed lots of super hero and car cards.

Buying lots is my opening packs now. I almost don’t like buying lots where I know what’s in them. Where’s the fun in that? Give me a lot cards I know I mostly want, but have a bunch of. Say 1965 Topps baseball. Maybe 1/2 will be doubles I can upgrade with or sell or trade. The others are new. Love it.

I like buying lots too.  I bought three hockey lots on Sportlots.  The lots led me to collect sets I would have never thought of before.
