It's great we are giving them a place Long overdue.
The fail is having them listed all together with all cards. I went to 1991 Donruss, and the listing for the checklist is sloppy. Not only is there the list with the variations of dot, no dot, but now the factory set is dumped in with it.
The factory set needs its own place just like all "inserts and related sets" are up there on the menu. There needs to be a place that has Factory set in the menu. They need to stand alone. I don't think it should be hiding in with related sets but have its own placing.
It's a complete mess when you have err cards with cor cards and variations cards and now factory sets are dumped in with it all. Augh! On the 1991 Donruss checklist, every card is listed with "Var" The checklist has become sloppy. The factory set, is added with the tag Var?? We don't mix them when building a set. They are not a variation, Thay are their own set and should be treated as such.
People wanted them to have their own listing as it should be. But they are a different set; they are not a variation and should be listed that way and they need their own placing in the menu.

What is that behind you!?! Oh, It's me! Looking at the cards you have, That I want. :)

If you don't want to mess with individual cards, add to your collection as Unopened Material -> Factory Set, and done.

Simply put, RJ, the 1991 Donruss set is exactly as Admin wanted. End of story.
The factory set was NOT a complete parallel, therefore there would be "duplicated" cards and Admin is against that.

The factory set was NOT a complete parallel? OK, so you're saying the factory set is a different set because it's not completely parallel? But is in with the normal set? That is confusing.
So there are some cards in the factory set that are the same as the normal set?
Do you know what cards they are? How does one find them? So I can tell what ones I have and don't list them wrong and trade a card to someone and wind up sending the wrong card.
I know the checklists cards have no "B's" but I see "C" on everyone. Well, I think I do, it's now 3 pages long and is over 2000 cards on the list. I need some Insite on this one because it's completely confusing now.
Maybe have an FS on them so we can see what cards are a Factory set card.

I actually like the Factory Set Option. Sure saves time and work. We list a 2000 card set because of a few dupes, now that doesn't make sense....Who cares about a couple of dupes ! Certainly much more confusing with a 2000 multi variation set than a few dupes.

That works for the personal collection. But I'm listing cards up for trade and maybe an hour of work is now, days of work. Plus, who here thinks having cards from a normal set mixed with factory set cards, makes a set? Because I'm a collector and that does not compute. That is a mixed bag and is not a set in my eyes.

Because some people just want cards 1-XXX to complete their set regardless of where they came from. There are plenty of broken open factory sets whose cards are floating around. I've gotten repacks with 87 Donruss. The box had both the packed out versions and FS. For many, it just doesn't matter where the cards originated from as long as it's card XXX. But there are also plenty of others that want master sets however that may be. If they have a HC set maybe the need FS versions. In this set's case their is crossover. Nothing on the site is going to make everyone happy. There are those that like how this set is listed and there are MANY who don't. We know what side you fall on. Admin was given options and Admin spoke. What we do now is figure out what works best for us to track our collections and move forward.

See when you write "MANY who don't" is showing a mistake admit is making. I can only think is just easier for them to add the cards this way. So it's their law? The website is an older configuration and you can only do so much the easy way, Then you hit the wall.
But the mind of the collector is not thinking this way and we are a card collector site. If I acquired a set and found it was a mix of a factory set cards with normal cards, I would not call that a set. But we do here? and give the factory set a tag calling them variations? Doing it the easy way does not make it right. What is the point of labeling Factory sets as a variation? The name alone tells you they are a set that stands alone. When a collector sees it as a completely different set but it's mixed here. That is an insult to all collectors. I have also looked at this on other website and they keep them separate because they are separate sets. Even people selling them on e-bay have them labeled as such. We dropped the ball here and it is better to fix it now, then let it stand as it is and continue the confusion.

RJ - PM Admin. You'll get nowhere in the forums. We cannot change it. Only Admin can. We did the work, but we followed Admin's directive. Many dislike it, many like it. Semantics. Some people would be fine with a "set" that is all three versions mixed up. My "set" is only 2 of those versions mixed up. Fine by me.
Oh, and, just a quick question - do you do anything other than complain? I don't think I've ever seen you make a post without it being a complaint.
