So I was just playing with this month's baseball card budget, not targeting anything in particular and I stumbled upon a nice lot of 8 1955 cards, closing soon, with an opening bid of $12.00. I thought, "I could use some more cards from the 50s in my collection. I'll bid." So I did. No one else did, and I won. And that's a very good price for the cards, which normally go for upwards of $3 each.
But I totally saw the next move coming. Two days later, I get an email saying, "Unfortunately, I have misplaced these cards and cannot find them. I have issued you a refund."
Sigh.
I don't feel like calling him out or complaining to eBay, but I'm 99.7% certain he just didn't like the price he got. And it does piss me off. For my very first eBay sale, I put three cards up from the 60s, with a starting bid of three cents. Guess what I got for them? Three cents. Guess what I did? I packaged them up safely the next day and put them in the mail, and I took my little loss and learned from it. And I got positive feedback, by the way.
Just be professional if you're selling (or buying) on eBay. That's all I ask.
(For the record, during these same couple days, I had a lovely exchange wtih a dude, who responded to my offer -- even though best offer wasn't an option -- by posting another listing with the cards I wanted immediately, and then giving me a small discount when I bought even more. And he said that he likes "dealing with nice people." So you take the good with the bad.)
Ok, nothing more to see here. Move on.
