When I was a teenager I inherited most of the 1991 Topps complete set from a neighbor, but they were slightly potato-chipped from having been stored in a basement for about 15 years. Probably 650+ cards. None of them are creased, they're all just bent in the center as they do. Any tips for flattening them out as a whole? I can probably manage to do it one by one but I don't have the time for a project that large.
Thanks!

Well, I'm not sure. I would think if you put them in plastic sheets in a binder, maybe even (gasp!) two to a slot back-to-back, and lay the binder flat, they would straighten out after a time.
For what it's worth, I never consider a curve in the card to affect its "grade," and most grading guidelines don't discuss the issue. My cards are all kept in binders or holders. And, you know what? They all look flat that way!
Good luck.

All my cardboard Topps cards curl in the winter, and flatten back out in the spring.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Unfortunately, they've been bent for about as long as I've owned them. If it's typical for older cards then that's fine on the whole, but there are a still a few cards that got slightly more moist than others that I do need to flatten out. At least 50 of them or so. I've been laying them underneath heavy books, etc. but nothing seems to work very well so far. Thanks for the tips, though, I'll try putting them in a binder.

Consider how long it took them to become that shape, and it'll probably take just as long to change. It's not biggie to me, though if you're mentioning moisture, that is another issue altogether.

put them all im penny sleeves and toploaders for several months? Not sure if that permenently corrects them or just keeps them flat while in the toploaders?

Pack them really tight in a set box and forget about them for a year or two.

Bent cards traded in a penny sleeve and toploader shoud stay there. If the card is NRMT in every other aspect, no problem. Condition is not based on a bent card, at least not to my knowledge.

-- Dan -- Note: Please see my profile for more info regarding trading (section updated 10/25/2023). I have added a large portion of my inventory to the site, and currently have trading turned off (details are in my profile). I have (finally) unearthed my 2 very large boxes of Star Company minor league sets and they are available (email for details).

Probably 90% of them are bent and otherwise in good condition. The rest were seemingly water damaged when I got them and those are the ones that I mostly want to fix. I'm assuming it's water damage because there's a big brown splash shape on the box I got them in. They're badly wrinkled and slightly bent in multiple directions. I've had a few of them sitting in sleeves under heavy books, etc. and a few of them in binders since I posted this and not a whole lot has changed. I'll keep them under weight for a while longer to see if I can get them any flatter. Thanks everybody for the tips.
