HELP!! 2018 Topps base set. The two cards that were misnumbered but then got corrected if you bought the complete factory set. I put together 2 full sets from opening packs but my collection shows I only have 698/700 because I do not have the corrected version that only came out in factory sets. Why should one have precedent over the other, especially if the cards that I assume most of the collectors buy come from opening packs/boxes of cards.

That probably makes more sense. I was really just focused on fixing the numbering so the base/master counts show correctly.

Bob, check your counts now. I only found two numbers that needed fixing (1 & 319), but looks like OCHawkeye beat me to the rest.

For the second part, you could open an IR for the cards that are incorrectly listed. It's pretty easy to identify which cards are causing the counts to be off:
- Go to the 'Errors / Variations' under a set
- Check each individual cards page
- If you see a letter (a/b/c) as part of the card number, it needs to be fixed for the counts to be correct (e.g. the #1 Barry Sanders shows as 1a/1b in the checklist, but when you go to the specific card page it should only show as '1'. The a/b should be part of a separate field within the card number)

OK, now my numbers match. Now with #1 Sanders, all you did was assign Sanders #1 for both cards and it automatically gets assigned the a and b. Otherwise I don't see where the a and b came from. I tried tracing through, but couldn't find the a and b designation except for the CL.?

The a and b have to be manually added by someone who has permission to update card numbers (Level 7 or 8).

There's a secondary field for the card number that's only visible when you go in to edit. That's where the a/b/c have to be placed for the base/master counts to align properly. When I initially went in to check the #s showed as 1a/1b on the individual card pages.

I have this same problem, the factory set corrections shouldn't be the "a" cards. They were released separately and this way you can't complete a set from packs. Also, wouldn't the factory set version be printed in lesser quantity, making it the rarer card? There must be way more packed out cards across all the different pack sizes than in factory sets. I didn't see a rule saying corrections had to be the "a" card, should this be changed?

I might have to abandon my pursuit of correcting; base set, master set numbers and ERR/VAR cards. Just can't overload, my re-organizing takes precedent. A few trades when they present themselves, but easy ones. Hate to do it, if anybody picks up on the mission good luck, I'll revisit the progress time and again.

This doesn't have to be a full time job. If/when you see a set with an issue, submit an IR for it. Someone will pick up the torch.
