Yup.  I sure did.  Earlier Tuesday night.  You have done it too, or you will.  I can now say I have joined the dubious club of (how many?)... well,  tell me.  How many of you all are willing to admit it?  Let's hear the stories and if this has legs, I'll answer the questions.

At least from the initial looks of the products I could readily identify in the photos, you only did about 30 cents worth of damage. :)

I was helping my friend bust a case of a recent topps product, came across a pack that weighed more than the rest, promptly dropped it on the floor as I was trying to open it - landed right on the corner.

It had a Cal Ripken Jr medallion card of some sort. He sold it for about 1/4 of the normal going rate. I felt bad and he was nice about it (he didn't physically harm me, the verbal abuse however was well-deserved). That's just the most recent thing that I can recall. I've had handfuls squirt out of my hands (I seem to like to try to handle more cards than my hand really can hold). Lose a card here and there from those, but not large scale like this. Hope they were extras and not sets or your collection.

I am pleased to say that I have never done that.

Vrooomed, you are right. Not nearly as devastating as your anecdote... first of all it was my own stuff, and secondly,  the value... I don't think I damaged any cards... remarkably is quite low anyway. 84-93 Topps baseball. The worst was, working alone in the basement, I held the 5000 box top in my hand, and flung it, frisbee style at my furnace and dinged a corner of that box top.

It could have been worse in at least four ways I can name.

I can certainly say that I've NEVER done that. I can also certainly say that I've tried to handle too many in one hand that  they end up under my chair and I don't even move until I'm able to locate them. So far I've never ruined anything. Good that nothing was damaged due to your carelessness - and let me point out, I don't believe in accidents. My kids grew up hearing me say that all their lives, and I stick to it. An accident is when you don't want to take responsibility. Carelessness puts that responsibility right on your shoulders. So, BE MORE RESPONSIBLE!

Trust I know what I did and that I take your comments hopefully in the good natured way I believe you intended to deliver them.  The buck stops here.  I allowed the box to fall down.  I was careless and I will    be     more    responsible     next time I reach for a 5,000 or 400 box, or a glass cup, a lit candle, a grenade, etc. 

I gotta say, Commish, and we have talked privately a number of times, I always appreciate your comments and perspective on seemingly every post that comes across this screen.  Won't you please keep a good eye on us?

Been there. Mine was in the parking lot of the apartment I was moving into. I don't recall losing anything to valuable in that one, and my collection was in disarray at the time so wasn't too traumatic. 

I spent probably an hour and a quarter seated on the concrete floor putting things back in order, and, as I have wanted to for a while anyway, into their own 400, 550, 800 etc boxes.  Not in utter disarray prior, nor outdoors with a bunch of people around either.  I could afford to lose the contents and did pay a little, but not much, time for my bonehead screw-up.

The family cat, who is sadly no longer with us, once tipped over my glass of red wine I was enjoying when sorting that took out a bunch of 2011 Bowman Draft cards. Luckily no Trouts were stained in the process.
