☆*★*☆*★*☆*★*☆ 50th ANNIVERSARY ☆*★*☆*★*☆*★*☆
I consider my birthday in August 1968 as the beginning of my collecting. That's when I first took my birthday money to the local 5 & Dime and bought a few packs of cards and the latest Spiderman comic. After that I would take my weekly allowance (a Quarter) to the local 5 & Dime and buy more packs and comics.
As a way to celebrate my 50th Anniversary in the hobby I've chosen to help other members reach their goals. This is a year-long goal, but here are my stats, so far.
Assist = card(s) contributed toward a goal
Goal = card(s) contributed that completed a goal

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Wow! I guess we're fairly close in collection age. I started in '66 with Topps baseball and Philadelphia football.
Anyway, I know I've been blessed by your generosity. May you have 50 more years of collecting!

What an awesome way for an awesome guy to celebrate.
Happy birthday, Chuck.
This site, the hobby, and the world are all better places because of your contributions to all 3.
Thanks for all you do, and for being you.

Now that I think about it, it is the 50th anniversary of my stopping collecting. Turned 17 and live girls looked a lot better to me than a cardboard Ron Swoboda or Horace Clarke. Glad you were there to pick the slack! Not oddly, I started collecting again after I got married.

Although you are only 4+ months older than I am, you have a year of collecting on me. I don't remember buying my first pack until the summer of 1969. I do have a hundred or so 1968 cards from my "youth" but I'm not sure where they came from. I also always got Walt Disney comics, usually Uncle Scrooge.
Great idea / way to celebrate 50 years. I'll try and pass that along next when when I hit my anniversay. (My wife is happy anytime a few cards leave our house.)

Happy Birthday Chuck! Being the only Database member I've met in person, and being on the receiving end of your card kindness, I know you deserve to have an excellent day!
I have 20 years to go before I hit 50th anniversary. For my 30th this year I've done one new card every day of the year, as you know. Wonder what if anything I will do when I hit 50 years? Maybe I'll finish scanning everything by then. Maybe.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. I got married on Aug 3 1968. But did not start collecting until my son started in the early 80s. Looks like I wasted a few years.
