I'm sure many of you have had this thought. Thought I would share a few inspirational images.

If you had $100 in your pocket back then, it was probably at least a weekly paycheck.

Ha. My first job after high school in 1986 I started working in a factory for $3.99/hr and we were paid weekly. Those checks didn't seem so at the time but were they ever small. 40 hours X $3.99 = $159.60 gross pay. I don't remember but let's say my portion of health care and such was just $10 per week, that moved my taxable gross to $149.60 per week. Let's use a tax rate of 28% or $41.89. That would leave my weekly paycheck at $107.71!

I can certainly relate directly to the last picture. Those are 1974 Topps boxes in that photo. I actually still have one of those display boxes in my collection from buying the whole box at our local Jewel back then. I kind of have a thing for the old packaging. My collection includes a wrapper from each year of Topps Baseball going back to 1960 only missing '61 and '62 and some odd junk wax years in the 90's. Fifties wrappers are much tougher to find and significantly more expensive.

My Autograph Collection Website Emphasis is on the 1969 Cubs. This is still a work in progress as is my collection here at TCDB. Value what you collect, don't collect for value.
