Year: 2003

Set: Flair Greats (Rate)

Card: #128 Joe Medwick

“ HOF ... interesting that he didn't take 1-2 mid career years off for WW2 service, as most of able bodied MLB did. Maybe he had kids, or ??? I like the back of the card, stats, bio, blurb and so on, fonts, color scheme, water mark ” -abide

“ Not a fan of this one. ” -muskie027

“ Wow! Check out his 1937 stats. I like the font used for his name and team on the back. Also, on the back in the top right corner I like that it tells how many Cardinals are in the set. That is about all I like about the card. ” -pjdionne12

“ Joe Medwick really pretty great. A career .324 Average can get you far in the MLB. Overall nice looking card. ” -mkb

“ Nice vintage guy in a modern set. ” -captkirk42

Collecting Ducky cards because he played semi-pro ball with my Great Uncle Al in early 1900s.

As far as not serving in WWII, yes, ee may have had children but many who had children did serve stateside as my father did with children.   But also, could be medical issues,  colorblindness or an assorted number of issues.   He was also over 30.    My older sister, born in 1941, did not have a father home for 3 years due to the war and when he finally came home, she did not recognize him.

The back of the card is really well done, just not sure the photo and background work together on the front.

Overall, great card! It could be better with a more touched up photo, but you have an old photo on a higher end card, it's gonna happen. Love that this guy had a long career. I feel like we don't see it as much today which is sad.
