“ People who think that elite athletes from the 70's can do the same in today's game needs to see this card of Walt. Imagine Walt trying to stop Derrick Henry. ” -jarosa04

“ One of the most classic, iconic designs in trading card history. ” -mkaz80

“ B-E-A-UTIFUL!!! ” -muskie027

“ I have this set. I always thought the banners were stupid -- did not coordinate with the player's team or position. Plus it was when Topps only had the Players' Association contract and not the NFL contract so they could not show team emblems, etc. sucked. ” -cjjt

Being from Australia I've never seen these but they are almost identical to Scanlens' 1974 Victorian Football League and Rugby League designs. Obviously no coincidence.

This was when you could actually see the football players' faces. The card companies haven't been doing that since the 1980s.

Pretty plain but that's what you expect from 1970's Topps.  For a minute I thought he was the Duke of Cambridge dressed up :D

I like these 1970s football cards.  You can actually see the player.  They seemed to have standard poses.  Perhaps the photographer gave these a couple options for poses and they had to chose one.

im reacting to some of the comments . you cant compare a player from 73 to todays game. The nutricion ,medicine , workout regimen . Is a big difference.  Do you think Ali would beat Joshua or Fury ?  Well i think Micheal Spinks  would beat them . But you cant compare eras.
