After a tumultuous several weeks, that included multiple weeks in and out of the hospital for my 8 year old daughter and a move forced by current landlord electing to sell the house we were renting, I'm happy to report that I'm back on the radar. I have packaged up the final two remaining lingering trades (thank you sooooooo much collect-a-set and SaveDaKid for being patient!) and will now be ready for more trades.
First, since I know everyone here are humans first and collectors second, I'll answer the obvious question: We still don't know what is wrong with my daughter. She has been suffering from major mental and emotional regression for several months, along with multiple 'absent' seizures (not accompanied by the typical physical convulsions). To illustrate most simply, at the end of first grade, she was being tested for the gifted program at her school, and at the end of second grade, she was barely able to complete kindergarten level work. Doctors here at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus Ohio are stumped, and we have an appointment on November 28 with one of the leading autoimmune / neurology specialist teams in the nation at Duke University. I have already stated that if it takes me rooting for the Blue Devils to get answers, I will do it (unless they play my Buckeyes of course). If there is anyone interested, I will pass along more updates as we get them.
Meanwhile, on the collecting front, our new house is very close to space available as our old house, and in many ways it is an improvement. Probably the only drawback is, of course, the available storage for my cards. We lost some basement storage, and gained a lot more detached garage storage, but my cards can't be out in the garage. So over the next few weeks and months I will be hard at work adding my collection to the trade collection, as well as posting some 'last chance' items before I move them to COMC, eBay, Facebook Marketplace, or our local thrift store / Children's Hospital.
As a reminder, my personal collection goals include one of every single Buckeye card ever printed, across all sports and even non sports, and my wantlist is constantly updated to reflect what I have and don't have. Otherwise, I will almost always accept trades that get me back St. Louis Cardinals, Columbus Bluejackets, Kansas City Chiefs, Columbus Crew, Boston Celtics, or Star Wars cards, whether I have them already or not. I know we don't see a lot of selling on this site as we do trading, but if anyone wants to buy it wouldn't hurt my feelings, since we don't know how many times we'd need to go back to Duke :)
Thanks for being the best card collecting site on the whole internet!
