I buy sometimes. Not frequently, but when I have some extra cash, I will buy some things for my collection.

Nope. Seems like most sellers on here expect full book value.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I sell once or twice a month. Mostly niche collectors filling out sets. I don't think I have ever seen book value.

And then are you asking 100% of the average? Do you offer a discount?
My opinion would be that if you really want to get some selling action explain how you are setting your pricing and be willing to offer a discount if you really want to move stuff. Even if you are using a few source points as you have stated here you might want to include whether it is 100% of, 20% discount, whatever it is that you are asking.
I think with a clearer price point you might get more inquiries.

The other thing to consider is how much of the sale do these platforms take. eBay is taking 21% currently, IDK about the other ones but that can make a big difference in what people want to pay when they know you are taking 100% of the sale. I wish you the best and hope you guys have an amazing trip.

When life has you down buy a pack of cards and realize you overpaid.

Personally I only trade on this site. I don't mind buying at card shows where I can get either cards by the box loads or if it's a higher end card I like to look it over before purchasing. The only time I buy individual cards on ebay is when I'm getting an extreme bargen in which case I'm less picky about it's condition. I set my limit to $5 per card (incuding shipping) which is tough when most of the cards I shop for online are typically selling $20+ each but I luck out a lot.
