On September 17, I received a trade offer. It was small so I pulled the cards, Accpeted and mailed all in the same day. Yesterday, 12 days after I sent my cards out, I got a Transaction message saying "Sorry for the delay. I'll drop this off at the post office tomorrow.". Today the transaction was updated three times from the other's end - "Package Sent, Package Received, Transaction Completed". Obviously my 296 positive comments to his 81 still made him think he should wait to make sure he received his cards before sending mine out.
This kind of action on people's part is down right insulting. I had someone else do the same and I no longer trade with him neither. Fortunately this is not everyone's approach on here - can you imagine if it would be? Just a few idiots out there thankfully.

I’m sorry you had a bad trade experience. I know how frustrating those can be. I had a series of unpleasant trades awhile back that contributed to me taking a year-long break from TCDB. All of the trades were executed but they had minor issues in the spirit of what you described. In my mind trades like that highlight the greed, mistrust, and unkindness that sadly exist in this hobby.
I’ve recently returned to TCDB and I’m actively trading again. I’m really trying to focus on my end of the trade. I enjoy putting a trade together. Not only because I like receiving cards, but I enjoy the process of the trade itself. I like creating a trade package and executing a trade the best I possibly can: one with timely and friendly communication; well packaged and organized cards; a hand-written note along with a trade list; quick shipping with tracking number; and always some bonus cards either from their want-list or something I think they might like. I'm not always perfect but hopefully my trade partners feel I'm being friendly, fair, and honest.
Fortunately, I’ve been on the receiving end of MANY trades or PIFs like that from members of TCDB and I strive to emulate the best of them. I’m trying to accept that I will be disappointed in some aspects of trading now and then. As I move forward with my trading, I’m trying to remind myself that it’s the less than stellar trades that make the good ones so special.

Chad, these are few and far between, especially when the bad members end up on the No Trade list. I have had so many great trades and return traders (in the teens for some of them) that those over shadow this odd trade. This remains the best site I have ever found and I will continue to be here to contribute and to trade.

Not everyone can get to the post office every day, but everyone should be able to put a note in the transaction messages saying something to the effect of "I won't be able to mail these before next Thursday" if that is the case. Upfront communication saves a lot of hard feelings down the road.

I doubt if this was a case of not getting to the post office every day. I understand when it is that. Too much of a coincidence that the package received was the same day as the package sent, 12 days after the transaction was accepted on both sides.
I am a forgiving individual when life issues impede hobbies but not when trust in me is questioned for absolutely no reason.

This post reminds me of a dilemma I am currently dealing with. I recently experienced a trade which went awry for multiple reasons, and I can't decide whether to post negative feedback or not. The trade partner had a 100% feedback rating for more than 75 transactions, so apparently they have been a good trader on TCDB. But in my instance they committed several misdeeds:
- They accepted a trade proposal involving 4 cards I'd send them for about 90 cards they would send me. The value was approximately equal among the cards, so no complaints there.
- They did not communicate after accepting the proposal until after the second time I sent them a message - a week after accepting the proposal.
- I asked them when they planned to send the cards, and when they replied after that first week he informed me they were sending the cards, but couldn't send all of the ones they agreed to trade because they had already traded away 5 of the cards to someone else, including a Mike Trout card that was selling for about $3.50 on COMC at the time.
- They offered to fix the problem by suggesting I find other cards from them, but had nothing on their FS/T list that matched my interests. I have fairly narrow collecting interests. I'm don't collect a wide variety of cards.
- I asked for a small PayPal payment to compensate for the fact I was going to have to pick up the missing Trout and other cards from COMC instead of trying to find the final 5 cards through several trades. I was building a set and those cards were the last ones I needed to complete the set.
- He made the small PayPal payment I requested, and even a little extra, which I appreciated, but his communication through TCDB and PayPal was snarky and derogatory towards me, as if I had no reason to complain about him botching the trade.
- He shipped the nearly 90 cards without a tracking number, and when I received them more than a week after he claimed he shipped them, there was $2.50 postage due. I don't know if he got bad advice from the post office he shipped from or just mistakenly underestimated the cost of shipping that many cards.
- I let him know I had to pay the postage due, and he never responded.
So, should I leave negative feedback for this guy?

Negative feedback or not, I would never trade with him again.

Neutral is an option too...if you at least want to give others the heads up.

That is uncalled for and rude.
Now if you are a newbie and have under say 5 or 3 trades. Then I can understand saying "Because you're a newbie you have to send first and when I receive them I will send your cards. This is how it's done." I been through it and have sent that message, with no problems. They all understand it. But to do that on someone coming up on 300 trade?!?!
What (add rude words here) is wrong with you.
If there is a problem. there is a thing called communication and you can message them in a few minutes.
I would send a well thought out Pm to them and leave the anger out of it. An explanation of how the community looks at that as being very rude is where I would start.

What is that behind you!?! Oh, It's me! Looking at the cards you have, That I want. :)

Agreed, neutral seems like a better course of action than a negative, because the person did send a majority of the cards and did try to chip in with money, even if he botched multiple aspects of that trade.
