Saw a listing for someone locally selling their uncle's cards. From the photos it appears there are 9 monster boxes of cards, plus a few binders of maybe another 500-1000 cards. Hard to tell condition, brand or years, but there are some photos of late 70s common baseball cards and 90s basketball cards. He said he's taken out all the Jordans but nothing more and doesn't know enough about cards. He's asking $350 but won't let you look through the cards beforehand. Would you do it?

Buy without being able to look at the cards? NO.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

offer 100. IMHO if it's from 80-90's they are maybe worth a penny each...you might find a couple decent cards but probably nothing exciting.
i've pissed off quite a few facebook marketplace sellers lately....but then i'm spoiled by a uber set builder who sells me shoeboxes of his dupes (2018-2020) for $5 a box...

Personally I would try to talk them down. I just recently purchased 10 monster boxes for $100.

Not for $350 without getting a glance at the cards in the boxes! Like sheepboy said, I'd offer $100 for a blind take-it-home deal. I'd also offer to pay more if I could look at them first and give my honest opinion about what is in the boxes.

I just bought 30,000 Cards for $100 with the chance of a Jerry Rice RC. It was in there. I bought 20,000 for $80 with Vintage Football and Derek Jeter RC. I knew I was getting that. I don't think anyone gives him that much without looking so $100 is probably a solid offer. Late 70s Baseball. Let's hope there's an Ozzie Smith and Eddie Murray RC floating around in there. Good Luck. I have been hooked on the new Topps stuff last couple of weeks but I really like buying those collections from people. It's much cheaper but just so time consuming.

Agreed......No look through cards tops $100......if you can look through, then you can give a fair price on the cards.....maybe it is only $100, maybe $350 is a steal

I can see him not letting you look at each and every card considering the amount of cards, but he shold at least let you look at a few random "pulls" (say 50-100 cards pulled out together from the box - 3 or 4 different spots). This would give you a good idea if the stars' or HoF' cards are there and what condition they are in.
If he doesn't even let you do that, unless you need a lot of commons in the sets that are supposedly represented, then $10 / box + $10 for the binders = $100.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
