I'm looking to buy the following SSP image variation cards, raw or graded considered (need not be gem):
2016 Topps Update US201 Mookie Betts (in truck)
2016 Topps Update US254 David Ortiz (hugging)
I'm casting a big net on many boards to try and locate these, but I'd welcome suggestions on other places that might be good to find the cards.
Thanks very much!

The 2016 Topps Update SSP cards are damn near impossible to find. For many, I've only ever seen one hit the market. I am still looking for 4 that sold the DAY of the release and I've never seen them again since. There are probably only 5 that exist of each. Best of luck in your search. I wish I could help you, but I don't want to part with either of mine.

No doubt, near impossible is a good description. But I have to imagine there are more than just a handful of copies out there, after all, the Ortiz and Betts both apparently have four that reside in collections listed here. And clearly in demand - more than three dozen users here have them on their wish list.
Thanks for the wishes - if you ever decide to change up your collection, I'd happily make an offer on these two cards!

Glad to see I'm not the only person searching high and low for Topps SSPs. I've been looking for the 2017 639 Matt Kemp (horizontal batting practice) for years now. I have never seen it come up on EBay and at times doubt it truly exists!! Griffey, I know you are the expert on these, any idea how may of the '17s are out there?

The Kemp definitely exists. I grabbed mine shortly after the release for a bargain. I'm guessing there are about 50-100 of those out there based on hit rates. Opening a case in 2017 would get you 1-2 SSPs, so they are relatively common as far as short prints go.
I have an extra Kemp sparkle short print from 2014 if that helps...

Good luck with your search! And at least that card has a pretty nice photo (I think the Betts and Ortiz SSPs on my list are a little lacking in their photographs). Whenever this pandemic lifts enough to have card shows, I'll keep an eye out for a Kemp for ya!

Are the SSP from Holiday sets easier? I noticed I had one recently when I was still adding my collection here. Posey with Santa in the seats. I'm keeping it regardless of value. Didn't know if it was necessarily scarce though.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I'm not the expert on the Holiday cards. I only collect flagship variations. Everything else I move before it is in my hands for too long.
