I've never collected football cards, and I'm not much of an NFL fan but I am a rabid Penn State Football fan. I have noticed cards of college teams and would like to start putting together a Penn State set (any and all players wearing the Blue and White). Where do I start? I'm looking for suggestions on card companies and sets to start purchasing to get this project off the ground. Thanks in advance for the help.

Click the link above, and if there's a certain period like the mid-90s or more recent or further back, whatever you want to collect, choose a year and you'll see what's available from that year. Once you know what you want, there are traders/sellers here, or you can try eBay, or there are cards as low as 50 cents on Beckett Marketplace

I've been a long-time collector of college and minor league sets and Penn State produced football sets from 1988 through 2011 that were sponsored by their Second Mile foundation.

Not sure how you feel about eBay, but try a search like "penn state second mile" and you'll get a lot of results. (And they also did a multi-sport set that had basketball and gymnastics, so the search results will include quite a few of those.)

I'm a PSU Alum and I. Collected all the Second Mile sets from when I was in high school through the rnd of them.  They were great little sets, and were a great thing to get autographed at Blue and White games or even by one of your classmates.   I was in a small class (maybe. 20 people)  and one of the gymnasts sat in front of me.  I found her card and took it to our next class and she thought it was really cool I had one and she was really happy to sign it.  That's the only one I have signed by one of the Gymnast.

The Second Mile sets would give you a lot of variety and names, more mainstream sets with college uni's I'd look at SAGE, Elite, Prestige, maybe Score.

TK Legacy also did a set or two of PSU alum's in their college uniforms as well as insert sets and autos.  The cards are easy to find on E-bay or comc.
