Donruss Elite was much better when it was actually made by Donruss/Playoff. Panini stepped in so quietly with buying Donruss that most people didn't even notice for a couple of years afterwards. Panini did stick to the basic idea of Donruss and Playoff products for a few years before taking their own artistic spin on them. This specific release did look like earlier Donruss Elite sets, but it wasn't looking so Elite for a couple of years before this release anyway. Nothing about this card (or set) is ELITE.
As for the player, another mediocre player that got great stats for a year or two due to the team around him. The career stats tell the real story since he only threw 30 more TDs than INTs. That is NOT a good QB. Kurt Warner and Jake Delhomme are the first 2 names at QB to come to my mind for QBs that "seemed" like they were good but really weren't good at all. The Panthers would have beat the Patriots in the 2004 Super Bowl if they had a better QB and the Rams could have won a couple more SB's if they had anyone better than Warner and Bulger at QB.
Like all of the QBs I mentioned, this card is also mediocre at best. Lame design and no real stats on the card. Why is it so hard to find cards now with actual stats besides career only or just the past year? The numbers are everywhere but the card companies can't bother to add them to cards anymore. Yeah, this card is over a decade old, but you still don't see stats on most cards in any sport now. Sadly, I don't think it will get any better when Fanatics takes over most of the card world.
NO PWE's EVER!!! PLZ PM me 1st before sending a trade or buy offer.
