Year: 1992

Set: The Wiz New York Yankees of the 50s (Rate)

Card: #NNO Elston Howard

“ Weird. Is he going to Heaven? Approaching Heaven's gates? ” -Duke
“ Nobody beats the Wiz! Classic marketing campaign of a now defunct store in the NY area. ” -Billy Kingsley
“ Great catcher for the Yankees and the Red Sox ” -jayoneill
“ Took me forever to get the Steve Kline of this set. ” -parsley24
“ Awesome! Elston was a Negro League All-Star and the first African-American to play for the New York Yankees. ” -tinyshogun
“ While I don't like when old players get put in new packs, causing current players to get left out, I do like sets like this, devoted entirely to old players. Too bad exclusive licenses have made Oddball sets nearly impossible now. ” -switzr1
“ Nice early 1990s Yankees card. ” -captkirk42

“ Very boring. Kind of like the team. ” -TwinKiller
“ Not ground-breaking in its design, but a nice way to learn of who played for the Yankees in the 1950s . . . The set includes many guys who barely had a cup of coffee, and it is good to see them on a card . . . ” -georgecf

Probably popular with some people but just seems a bit boring to me.

It's about time the winningest team in professional sports gets some notice.

All New York Yankees cards are welcome to join my collection.

I'm also interested in recreating my main childhood collection, which consisted of mostly 1974 and 1978-1982.
