Set: Magic the Gathering Throne of Eldraine French (Rate)

Card: #76 Faire cuire une tourte

“ Pie? I'm not sure what it says since I've tried and failed to learn French on multiple occasions, but based on the skulls in the top right I'm guessing this is a poisoned pie or something. Unless of course it's referring to diabetes...pie is certainly not good for your blood sugar. Don't ask me how I know! ” -Billy Kingsley

Here's the English version. Pretty good card, if perhaps a bit challenging to deploy.

I like the art and subtle nod to Hansel and Gretel's witch friends.

Mmmmm Pie.

Oh wait. Is that a hand coming out? I only prefer foot pie.

“Bake into a pie” is not quite the right translation even though the English version has it that way. "Faire cuire une tourte" is "Bake a pie". "Bake into a pie" would be "Faire cuire dans une tourte"

I just learned that "une tourte" is a pie that is closed at the top. "Une tarte" is a pie that open (eg topped with fruit, lemon merengue, etc).

I've been incorrectly using "une tarte" to refer to all pies!

I'm glad my French and knowledge of the reference here worked out. I must say, I know little of Magic, but this is an amazing looking card.
