Year: 2008

Set: Stadium Club (Rate)

Card: #118 Masahide Kobayashi

“ Ah, nostalgia, the old Indians. Too soon? ” -muskie027

“ Why does this have an SN? Looks like a pretty typical base set card from this era. ” -pugchump

“ He was a good pitcher and a hell of a pitching coach! ” -tinyshogun
  3
“ If you're a Trekkie, you'd know that's either the best or worst surname for a pitcher. Either the opposition goes up against him and they're in for a "no-win scenario", or the team that employs Kobayashi is in for a no-win scenario when he pitches. He had an MLB career 4-5 record, so all this sci-fi talk can be disregarded. ” -DanD
  2
“ Well, no more Indians. It really won't sink in for me when next season starts. Putting that aside, this really doesn't look like an SN, yet it is. I hate that type of card. ” -BigBoyOnWheels

“ Kobayashi is the name of a character in one of my favorite movies, “The Usual Suspects”. “enigmatic lawyer and right-hand man of the mysterious crime lord Keyser Söze” ” -freakizon
  1
“ Decent design... kinda plain. ” -BigDaddy

“ Nice design. I think there was an upper deck football design that is almost exactly like one, on the front at least. Minus The RC logo which is exclusively Topps. ” -captkirk42

From my research, Stadium had some strange cards during the mid 2000s before being discontinued. The serial number on the base is one of those

Many sets have serial numbered RCs. At least in hockey.

Bit plain for a SN card.

The beast of a set that does not quit. On a fool's errand trying to build this set. These SN cards are really just a you know what to find. Thankfully I got the Scherzer and Kershaw AUs on the cheap before pandemic pricing kicked in.
