“ This card is just, well, too much. There's way too much going on, too many colors, designs, and even a hologram on the front. And that's only the front. The back is a bit better, but the shape of the designs where the stats/facts are put is unappealing to the eye. ” -BigBoyOnWheels

“ Whoa that hologram! It's like a trip without dropping a hit. ” -BuccaneersDen

It's too bad that part of the card was cut off here. These were one card packs and a lot of them were damaged right out of the pack, especially the pointed edges of the X in the design.

The holograms on these cards actually moved when you turned the card. The player would generally go from a resting emotionless face to a grin. They are awesome in person but scan poorly.

One other thing, this is a 1996-97 release. I'm not sure why Upper Deck tried to force the baseball style one year only listing onto an NBA set, that's just wrong in every way, NBA sets should never be listed as single year. If you read the card backs in the first two SPx sets it's very obvious what year that they actually belong in.

One of the cards I have had in my collection since I was a kid is the Kevin Johnson card from the base set.  My brother bought it for me.  Corners are in pretty rough shape but still like that card.  Also interesting that this card gives me the same type of nostalgia since I have fond memories of watching McDyess throwing down dunks from passes from Kidd watching the Suns back in 97.

Definitely one of the nicest die cuts to be produced. Trying to read the card number is tough, especially on the silver hockey versions I'm currently looking for :)

I could probably buy the already complete sets cheaper somewhere else, but I like getting my maildays.

A hologram die-cut seems like a bit too much going on with this.
