Year: 1996

Set: Topps Laser - Power Cuts (Rate)

Card: #P14 Ken Griffey Jr.

“ Too many gimmicks. Not so sure about the usefulness of the stat on the back.... so Griffey is league average? Stat seems to be more about Griffey's teammates than Griffey. ” -chvlDm

“ If only they could add a few more laser cut bats or thicker border lines. Then we wouldn’t have to see any of the players at all. ” -Tscastle

“ I feel like Topps Laser does so many of these die-cut cards. ” -jdogg1228

“ Would not be one of my favorite cards of The Kid in my collection, but I love me some "Junior"! ” -bkklaos

“ Looks like was designed by a first-grader . . . ” -georgecf

“ Cut out cards have never done anything for me partially because of the fact I see the card behind it if it is in a sheet. The card looks okay but could use some more POP colors. ” -TwinKiller

“ On the surface it is kind of a cool concept, but in reality and execution it stinks. It is hard to read what the laser cut says and makes that part of the card way too delicate. ” -captkirk42

“ I'm a big fan of die cut cards, and Topps Laser is a die cut set on steroids. Really hard to keep these cards in good shape unless they went from pack to one touch [screw down at that time] and half the time a pack pulled card was imperfect. This particular card, a 1 per 40 insert of Junior was one of the best cards you could get. I've never seen this. I am a big fan of complicated and imaginative inserts, shiny stuff, acetate stuff, chrome, prism, refractors, and lenticular. This particular set, was a nice try, but went too far IMO. ” -abide

A bit too much going on with these cards. Quite cluttered.
