Year: 1982

Set: Fleer (Rate)

Card: #234 Don Sutton

“ Gull darn, he hit that ball hard, and far, and that was a stupid pitch, what was I thinking was going to happen when I groove a fastball right down the middle on a 2-0 count, to a guy that loves the fastball and usually does not miss when a guy like me makes a mistake. ” -abide

“ I miss the early 1980s Fleer and Donruss sets. Got to get off my duff and complete all those sets. ” -captkirk42

“ I like the simple design of ‘82 fleer. Don Sutton also won over 15 games in 1982 over the age of 35, so good for him ” -mkb

“ A crappy follow-up set to their awesome 1st year set. Bad pictures throughout the set. ” -cjjt

“ Overproduced, poor quality, and many blurry photos, but yep, loved this set (and still do)! Brings back many memories for me in that era! ” -bkklaos

One thing I loved about these Fleer sets was the grouping of teams numerically.  Made it easier to track team sets if that was your thing.  The World Series winner followed by the other penant winner being 1st and 2nd in the set was another really nice touch.

Nice to see a good set from the 80's. A classic design.
