“ Awesome! Definitely a set I've never heard of and likely would not have ever heard of, if not for this site! Love it! ” -bkklaos

“ Nice card from a great commemorative set(s). I'll admit I didn't know or care about the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL) from WWII until the movie "A League of Their Own" was made. After learning about the league's history I grew a great amount of respect for the woman who participated in that league. ” -captkirk42

“ It's actually not a bad-looking card, despite the subject matter . . . I do not deny females the right to play organized sports, I just hate watching them do so . . . The card presents nicely, both front and back, and is overall nice . . . Now, get off my lawn!!! . . . ” -georgecf

“ Love it! ” -muskie027

I love the look of this card and although this is normally not something I would collect, I already checked out Ebay and put some in my follow list. Might pull the trigger on this one.

I can't recall ever commenting on the "Card of the Day" but I must say I am so happy and proud to see a female athlete featured on the home page of our community's website!!!! [and it isn't even a holiday like "Mother's Day" :) ]

I'd say this card and its design are "in a League of Their Own"

(I'll show myself out.)

Definitely agree! There are so many incredible cards I've not been aware of until I joined this site. Very grateful.

One of the more interesting cards and sets we've had appear recently as the RCOTD.

I like the 1955 Bowman inspired back!

That's a cool card, I didn't know there were AAGPL baseball cards.

To add to Billy's question, I wonder if there is a relation to legendary Cardinals baseball coach/fundamentals instructor George Kissel?

You can leave comments by clicking on "Upcoming" under the current card of the day. It is always for the card that appears one week later, and resets at 1AM EST every night.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.

When I first heard of these cards, I always thought they were like some sort of counterfeit cards since they weren't produced by a major card company.  A few years later I realized they weren't but still wasn't big on the design, so I never had a desire to get any, but seeing as Ms. Kissel was born in St. Louis, I might seek this card out to add to my Missourians collection.  I guess I should check for others too.
