Certainly random. I can't imagine there are many of these still around in good condition.

The Google says they were color-printed lithographs - [Dimensions: Sheet: 4 3/4 × 7 13/16 inches].  From the Lefferts Novelty Company in Brooklyn, NY. -- a candy distributor owned by Alfred Ross.  The sixteen cards helped explain the more obscure rules of baseball.

I had a chuckle at Billy Kingsle's comment.  Because if you read the set description, it says it was the bottom of a box.
