Year: 1994-95
Set: Finest (Rate)
Card: #318 Avery Johnson
“ I'm glad that we got at least some of the cards in this set scanned before they turned green. I suspect they are all going to at some point. For an undrafted player he had a remarkable career, which includes an NBA title with the Spurs in the 1998-99 season. Became a coach and TV broadcaster after he retired from playing. ” -Billy Kingsley
“ I still love the early to mid-90's Finest cards in any sport. It was an innovation that continues to this day. That technology spawned all kinds of great-looking cards. And the protector-sheet wasn't needed to protect the cards after only a few years. The cover sheet became a gimmick for Topps and Pinnacle. Pinnacle took it a step farther with using it to cover actual metal cards. Eventually, every product like this dropped the sheet. But Finest was the start of the "Chromium" cards... ” -spazmatastic
“ Mid 90's at it's "finest". Computer generated backgrounds are usually great or awful, this one I really like. The back I don't care for though. The black on navy blue writing on parts of the card are too hard to read, for me. Also the line at below San Antonio Spurs, Finest Moment 93-94 seems like it is going through the first line of biographical info. The card number also looks very tiny too me. ” -davidhandberry
“ I've said it several times Topps "Finest" is never its Finest. Just a fancy way to name a Chrome set that isn't a parallel set to the main flagship set. Hey I like the concept more than I do having a full Chrome parallel set with its own thousands of inserts. ” -captkirk42
“ Sorry, protective coating should be removed, unless you are eating a banana split or pizza while looking at your cards. I always thought the wrapper was the protective coating. ” -NJDevils
“ I love the sound of his voice. ” -UKboogie
“ Ironic, as this isn't Topps Finest. ” -muskie027
