“ I miss team cards with team photos. ” -Splinter_9

“ Great team card! This, in my opinion, is what team cards should be, at least on the front. I'd prefer statistics from the team's previous season, or all-time franchise records, on the back but we can't always get what we want. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ I miss these team pictures in sets. I hate the new version where it is just some action or posed shot with a few members of the team. I like the whole team being together in the shot. ” -davidhandberry

“ Green border for Dallas Green, the manager. I like it ” -IfbBirdsCards

“ I really wish card companies would bring back this style of team card. ” -rmpaq5

“ Awesome.. love seeing those names! ” -tonym

“ There are some very trollish, at least I hope they are being trolls and not seriously question the practice, people who wonder why cards of the product date get used to represent or commemorate a year that something happened. I.e. someone would post a card from the 1987 season to get images of Mets wearing the 25th anniversary season patch the 1986 team wore. Well, I’d assume they’d question the use of a 1981 style Topps card when celebrating the 1980 World Champions! ;) ” -stevejrogers

“ This is the type of Team Card that I like. Wish they would bring these back instead of those one or two star player team cards that you don't realize is a team card until you see the back or see that the front only has the team name on ” -captkirk42

“ Just look at that all-naturally colored aqua Astroturf. ” -vanstryland

“ Awesome! World Champs!! ” -cjjt

“ Fantastic looking team photo taken from Iowa. ” -parsley24

“ That's THE team. Since the card is a 1981 card, that means the picture was taken in 1980 - which is the year they won the World Series. What a great team. My team. :) ” -vrooomed

“ Something about the 1981's always spoke to me. They had a gritty and grainy look and feel and the color scheme didn't match the teams, but somehow it worked. It was the last year of the original Topps logo and the last year of team cards. Plus, fake grass and big hair on this card. Love it! ” -DocOso

“ I love these team cards, and it's my favorite set ever. Making this arguably my favorite RCOTD ever! Also, I love that they aren't wearing their hats, so the 1980 hairdos are on display. ” -switzr1

Seeing this spurned me to move them up in my World Champions lists project:

What an iconic photo as eluded to by previous posts. Nice team shot and the instant I opened my browser and saw it the very first thought that crossed my mind was that "vrooomed" is going to be stoked over this one. laugh

Do teams even take team photos? I can't remember the last time I saw one.

Phillies world champs!  1980 was a great season to be a Phils fan.  I really do miss these team shots, they were always classics and need to be brought back.
