Year: 1976

Set: SSPC (Rate)

Card: #113 Wes Westrum

“ I think this may be the first time I have seen "Ex-Manager" listed as a fellers position on a card. ” -Gunny

“ Interesting card, never seen a card that said Ex-manager before. I really like this set after taking a look at it. I had never heard of SSPC before this. ” -davidhandberry

“ Looks more like a photo of a fan than the skipper! ” -stevejrogers

“ Camera needed more flash.... ” -rmpaq5

“ I love the 1976 SSPC set, mainly for its photography, but this one is not so good. He looks a bit jaundiced. ” -DocOso

“ Wow and not in a good way. SSPC cards are usually nice alternate photos and of a decent quality. This one seems to have a lighting exposure problem. Perhaps the original flash when the photo was taken wasn't enough for the conditions. Looks more like the type of candid photo you would see on someone's Facebook or Instagrahm newsfeed. ” -captkirk42

“ Wow, how many other cards are produced with the person's termination details like this? I noticed ex-manager at the top, and thought "well that's funny, I wonder what the 'ex' actually means, it almost looks like he's not the manager anymore..." and then I read the comments and realized, that's exactly what the 'ex' means! ” -Brimose

“ My favorite position. Ex-Manager! Also, one of my favorite sets ever. I love these, and I actually do own this card. ” -switzr1

“ Nice looking card ” -Kenneth864

“ OMG!! Looks like a security camera photo of a suspect from the Quicky Mart robbery!!! I remember when this set came out. We thought it was odd. I wish I bought it back then. ” -cjjt

“ Oh man, this is bad. I never heard of Wes Westrum and to be honest, this pic is bad. This would have been great to show up on an "insert funny caption" day. ” -muskie027

At first I didn't think it was Wes Westrum as the photo makes him look a lot younger than the 54 he was in the picture.

I have a 1926 W512 card of Tris Speaker. His card says Ex manager Cleveland.

I've seen quite a few cards from this set, and boy is the lighting on some of them awful. Trust me, this isn't the only one.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff.  Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
