Year: 1998
Set: Upper Deck (Rate)
Card: #441 Ugueth Urbina
“ Didn't this guy go to prison for murder? ” -deporcoruña
“ You can actually read the player's name...rare in this design! I don't dislike it, but I liked the previous design so much better. I'm not sure if this design was used in football, but it was used in all 4 other major sports. I like when there is design unity like that. ” -Billy Kingsley
“ The only major leaguer with the initials of UUU. Unfortunately, his off-the-field exploits have caused him more notoriety. ” -Gapporin
“ This set is one of those 1990 sets that I originally hated the heck out of because of the foiled lettering (and the tendency for the cards to stick together) As for the player I was not following the Expos during the 1990s so with the exception of having some of his cards I have no idea what kind of player he was. ” -captkirk42
“ Today’s scan is by ‘gb24’. ” -Kirbythedodger
“ Silver oil overload!!!! Not one of my favorite efforts from UD in decade of the '90s, but still pretty solid. Especially the back of the card. Nice to have a big secondary picture to enjoy. ” -mkaz80
“ World series champion. Served 7 years for attempted murder, which he denies involvement in (I tend to believe him). Five days after his prison release, he was back on a team in the Venezuelan league. Quite a life Ugueth has lived. And I do like this set. ” -switzr1
“ Great photo, great looking card. ” -parsley24
“ For the last time, all lettering should face the same direction! ” -NJDevils
“ An Expo! (checks Wikipedia page) Nevermind... ” -DanD
“ I normally don't like landscape cards, but the front of this one with the picture and the graphics really works for me. The back is solid also with a different pic than the front (hey Panini I am looking at you!) and absolutely no wasted space. Lastly...Tigers fan to the end but I loved watching those young 90s Expos teams that the strike just killed. If only.... ” -rmpaq5
“ Card is nice but I have to get to Ugueth. If you don't know the history of Mr. Urbina look up why he left baseball and you will be horrified. If you don't have the time I will just say this, never, never, never steal from him, he takes it very seriously. ” -davidhandberry
