Year: 1967

Set: Sports Service Detroit Tigers (Rate)

Card: #NNO Willie Horton

“ It's fine. ” -switzr1

“ Arguably the most beloved Tiger of all time. ” -rmpaq5

“ I don't know exactly what size/kind of card this is I'm looking at, but I like it. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Very simple but a great picture, looks more like an art picture than a baseball card. Besides the picture it is very bland but if it were a Braves player I would jump at this set. ” -davidhandberry

“ Willie Horton was an underrated ball player. ” -kirkscards

“ I guess it's nice. ” -Kirbythedodger

“ Opened this page with my mouse hovering over the picture so when it first loaded I saw the blank back and thought the page was still loading for the first 1 or 2 seconds. Cool vintage love team photo sets from the '60s. Slightly odd that it is oriented horizontally as these type of photos were usually headshots. ” -captkirk42

“ beautiful old school card. love it ” -parsley24

The front is great but I feel like it’s more like a photo than a trading card to me.

One of firsts cards i had as well as one of my favorite player from that time, He used to always sign autos for us kids outside the park. This card I have very very worn out and one I can remember trying in my pockets, which just sounds mortifying now.

Do any of you older folks remember vending machines at the ballpark where you could buy cards like this? I have a faint memory of going to Tiger stadium in the late 60’s and seeing cards like this available in vending machines. I feel like the machines were in the bathroom but that could be way off. If true was it unique to the Tigers or did all balllvparks have these?

Looks like the photo was taken perhaps at the beach or somewhere similar .. Gotta love the simplicity of both the front and back...

Nice item. I don't think that these are very common.
