Year: 2008

Set: Topps Moments & Milestones (Rate)

Card: #125-24 Matt Holliday

“ Here come the haters- and that's fine. This set, like some gourmet food, is an acquired taste. And I've acquired it. I have completed 87% of this set, and would love to finish it off. If anyone has any leads, let me know. Or if anyone wants to start it, I have lots of dupes. Contact me. ” -Dave Sosidka

“ Good looking card, but what are the 24 hits relating to? There is nothing on the card that, that relates to. Otherwise a great ” -parsley24

“ Doing this on my mobile device, so I can’t see the back without cutting and pasting and going down rabbit holes. But as cool as this is as a massive chase concept (like the season biographies and such from UD), it would be funny if this card was for a 1-out bloop single on an 1 for 4 night, as opposed to a big or clutch peformance! ;) ” -stevejrogers

“ Nice card. I like the design. But what is "24 hits"; it is not mentioned on the back of the card. ” -cjjt

“ I don't understand why it says 24 Hits? This card is very confusing in what it is trying to say. ” -RoyalChief

“ The epitome of mind boggling amounts of parallels and variations. So thankful my main collection player Barry Bonds is not featured. This has to be a huge headache for any player collector. I do have several hundred of other players I've accumulated over the years. ” -weight333

“ Not a fan of these Milstone cards. One design for a zillion cards that differ only by the number for the achievement. Even when it is a player a PC I don't like them. ” -captkirk42

“ Nothing like "milestones" based on height and weight. ” -NJDevils

“ Interesting choice. I don't like this card because there are too many of them. ” -Kirbythedodger

“ Matt Holliday didn't touch home plate. ” -ketchupman36

“ Sorry, but what's the 24 for? It's card #125-24, it seems? I guess I'd have to look at the set to understand that numbering system. But if that's the case, I have no images in my head that end up being acceptable for such a numbering system. 24's not his uniform number, and clearly he had 216 hits, and he broke his own best by 20, etc. Nope, I don't get it. ” -kents_stuff

“ Seriously? There's a record for hits by a "Clydesdale?!" I love statistics, but we've clearly finally gone over the edge. The design of the card is ok, other than the vertical writing. But I'm very confused. What's the moment or milestone? 216 hits by a big guy? 24 hits.... somehow? No really, what is the 24 for? ” -Vvvergeer

For those wondering - this set was designed so that each card was replicated x amount of times. For example, this card, #125 in the set, also has 215 other variations of it, each one marking one of his 216 hits during the season. Hence the numbering 125-24 on this one. They run from 125-1 to 125-216. And it’s like that for every card/player in the set.

Some love it. Some hate it.

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

That set was annoying.  Sure its limited to 250 but they have a ton of cards just like it.

I don't mind it. I have a couple Cardinals. Holliday is probably in my top 5 all time favorite players, so I wouldn't mind having this one.  For my collecting purposes,  I would consider a set complete with one of each primary number.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff.  Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
