Year: 1993-94

Set: Fleer Excel (Rate)

Card: #39 Jeff Pierce

“ Nice card...too bad the example shown is damaged. I really like seeing the ads at minor league stadiums, in any sport. I usually spend more time looking at them than I do the actual player shown! ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Really nice for a Minor League Card. The back is pretty cool with the picture. ” -muskie027

“ Another minor league baseball card. Another like from me. I am a huge fan of minor league cards and this is no exception. A little about Jeff Pierce, played 12 games in the majors with Boston after being cut by the Reds the year before. Never made it back to the majors and was out of baseball 2 years later. ” -davidhandberry

“ A couple of nice photos and a reasonable border...good design overall. I don't care for the pinstripes in the stats area--maybe fainter would have been OK, though. The Excel logo is good in size and placement, but horrible in design. And the player silhouette in the corner...well the more I look at it the worse it gets. I assume this is supposed to be a pitcher. It kind of looks like a guy hitting fungoes, though. Or a hiker with a backpack and walking stick (and I'm being kind here) next to a tree stump. ” -kents_stuff

“ Nice Minor League set. I don't think I've seen these before. OH my I found an odd thing about the checklist. If you sort by teams some of the Major league teams are listed. The cards under them in card view are properly marked for the minor league team and the main checklist has the minor league teams. But the team link has the Major League team, and while viewing a team listing the Major League team is shown on the list. ” -captkirk42

“ An ok looking minor league card. Did this guy play with Jordan? ” -parsley24

“ Maybe it's just me, but it looks like snow or detergent is falling on him??? ” -Joshua825

Fun fact about Pierce is that he was part of a trade that brought Tim Belcher to the White Sox from the Reds.

I cringe when I see the results of bricked card peeling. I've ruined so many great junk wax era cards that way. What's the deal with the logo bottom left? Is it a guy awkwardly swing a bat or digging a hole? I love the ad panel wall behind him.
