Year: 1988

Set: Score - Glossy (Rate)

Card: #642 Mackey Sasser

“ Don't see many citrus inspired cards! ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Never collected or knew of the glossys, but I remember the "new" Score cards in 1988 and loved the colors and different card stock. ” -muskie027

“ If they would’ve made the whole set with the red or purple border, this would’ve been a near perfect set. Really like the back though. ” -IfbBirdsCards

“ Negatives: Such an obnoxious orange color scheme (sorry Vol's, Longhorns, et al.). And had the orange not burned out my retinas, I would still be searching for a magnifying glass for that size 4 font on the back. Dubious: What are the units on the photo size? Is that 1988 micro-inches or what? It's nice how they chose that dimension to match the year the card was issued, though. Positive: I always liked that Score had good photos front and rear. ” -kents_stuff

“ That smaller 2 next to his last name on the back reminds me of balancing chemical equation, as if they were trying to create a super rookie in the lab. ” -DanD

“ I love that song "Fat Border Cards" by Queen. ” -wjhipwell

“ Looks the same as dozens of other cards. Design is respectable. ” -Phil

I don't understand why Score doesn't get more respect. The front of the card is only missing a team logo to make it perfect. The back has everything you want:

1. A diferrent picture. ( a head shot)

2. Basic info on the player.

3. A write up on the player

4. Full stats.

What's not to like?

I hate glossy parallels. There's virtually no differrence.

I didn't know there were "Glossy" versions (as someone else has already mentioned). I do like the set. I need to get the regular version complete. I think back when Topps first started their glossy "Tiffany" sets I thought it would be neat to chase both the regular version and the glossy, but now days just trying to complete one set, if you don't buy it as a set is hard enough to do.
