Random Card of the Day

Year: 1969-70

Set: Topps (Rate)

Card: #12 Glenn Hall

“ Vintage hockey! Cool! A few years before entering the sport officially, I picked up two Blues cards from this set because they were lounging in a local dealer's junk box and I couldn't bear the thought of them getting damaged, as there was nothing wrong with them. This wasn't one of them, though. I also rescued a 1963 Topps baseball card out of there even though it is noticeably sun faded. Interesting write-up on the back. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Love the age on it, but I would have liked a larger team logo or none at all. Also, a downer that Topps was at one year of stats on the back. Even the vintage can't get a free pass on that. The design is awesome though, so as a set, this looks like a winner, just wish there was a better photo for Mr. Hall. ” -muskie027

“ That wooden stick says it all! ” -carthage44

“ Want to play an impossible game? Look at front of any random 10 cards in this set. Try to guess the player's age. Keep a tally of how many years you miss by for each. If your score is less than 50 at the end you win. You won't win. ” -OCHawkeye

“ I wish more immortal players across all sports looked like this. Hats off to "Mr. Goalie!" ” -mkaz80

“ Classic! ” -KMack

“ Looks to me like he is irritated by a reporter's stupid question. Something like "Glenn you gave up the game-winning goal in overtime, how does that make you feel? " ” -mattdamick

“ 60s and 70s hockey cards are some of my favorite and this is no exception. ” -wax_house

“ Nice Vintage Hockey. Love this design. Wish the Caps had started way back in the early days (of say the original 6) instead of 1974. Interesting the back has a place for a player stamp. I guess instead of a stamp album the stamps produced that year were supposed to be stuck onto the cards? The stamp set only has 26 stamps I'm hoping the card set reflects that an only has 26 cards with this "place [player's name] stamp here" feature. ” -captkirk42

“ That look you give when you are 30 minutes into netflix and chill and she says how much she is into the movie. ” -parsley24

“ I love the comics on the back of most of the cards in this set. The fact that a good number of them mention what jobs these guys all have in the off-season shows how poorly they were paid compared to today's players. ” -rmpaq5

“ I can tell by the look on his face that he is experiencing the Glenn Hall Blues. ” -altaeria

“ Love it when a legend is RCOTD. May be a bit simple in design, but I like it. Another great thing about vintage hockey cards...you can actually see what the player looks like. It's a shame most current goalies have never actually had their FACES on a hockey card. ” -C2Cigars

“ Never saw the stamps on the back deal. Pretty neat. ” -NJDevils

“ his faciel expression perfectly matches my opinion of this card: Mildly Disappointed ” -Bargunmaster

Vintage hockey card from the days of my youth. Hall was one of the best of his era and if it wasn't for Mr. Robert Hull would likely be the first Blackhawk mentioned fromo this time . Nice simple looking card design reflecting the mood/theme of the day as compared to modern day rush rush lifestyles.

Look at that pretty face.  And this was a time before goalie masks.  It must have been an art unto itself dodging pucks from your face while making a save with other parts of your body.  Not a big fan of the card design.  Fairly basic and the picture looks more like a mug shot.

One of the best goalies of all.  Was sick before each of his games...and still managed to start 600+ in a row.  A record that will never be broken.
