That is why I called it "vintage vintage".

Oh my. Yes. I don't know if it's in my Collecting Goals for 2018, but I had almost forgotten my quest to get a card from the 1800s. It's back on. Must have one. Any one. Almost any condition. So cool.

I got into the 1800s in non-sports last year. It's a really amazing feeling. To hold something almost 100 years older than you...and to know that someone just gave it to you, because they are kind...that's even more amazing. It wasn't all that long ago when I thought owning any tobacco cards was a pipe dream, never going to happen. Now I've got well over a hundred of them, including a complete set, and into the 1800s, it's kind of mind blowing. I'm glad I don't chase 1800s baseball though, I can't imagine how expensive that would be.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.

I'm entering the world of 1880's tobacco this year. Non-sport though; baseball is too expensive and I don't do baseball. This is an awesome card though.

My two-cents is worth slightly more than a penny.

Somehow I missed the day to comment on this one. Beautiful card. Quality like this is why they are still making cards 131 years later. Count me among those who want to own a 19th century card before year's end.

-------------------------------

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff.  Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
