Random Card of the Day

Year: 2008-09

Set: SPx (Rate)

Card: #73 Monta Ellis

“ These cards are die cut. When Ellis was traded to the Bucks the Warriors fans booed so badly that it cost GM Chris Mullin his job. The trade was made so Steph Curry could become starter. I think it worked out well for the Warriors, considering Steph is two time consecutive NBA MVP. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ This card is about SPx... oh wait, there is a player somewhere. ” -Duke

“ This guy seems like he has been around forever! Because he has, rookie in 2005 out of high school and he is still only 31 years old! Remember when players could do that and skip college? ” -carthage44

“ Oh, wait, there's a picture of a basketball player there! ” -Sportzcommish

“ Neat card. A bit too much branding and microscopic text to suit my taste, but all the essentials are there. The die-cutting seems a bit unnecessary. Maybe it makes the card more aerodynamic when playing "closest to the wall"? ” -dilemma19

“ I like The digital letters in the background of the card. ” -TradingCards964

“ Another decent action shot with a bunch of nonsense thrown around it for the NBA. Add an SPX ticker tape below an SPx logo, cram the word Warriors in there, but make it hard to read and make the name even harder to catch and you get another bad batch of whatever. The back is nice. ” -muskie027

“ Although, the photo quality and card stock are excellent, typical of an SP release, I have never been a fan of die-cut base sets. Harder to store, display, keep in good condition, etc. Though I don't collect basketball, I do have a good many of the football issue of this set. The overall design is lacking; offset "X" consisting of team colors in the background, along with blurred digital effects. Screams lazy design team. Back of the card is functional and does not deter, at least. ” -rolmodel12

“ I'm gonna give this one a big "whatever". ” -NJDevils

“ Not a huge fan of die-cut anymore. This one is OK. Not great but OK. ” -captkirk42

“ What surprised me most about this card is that Billy didn't submit it! ” -cynicalbuddha

“ Never seen this set before. In general I like the design although I think they may have overdone it a little bit with how many times it says SPX. ” -Mitch

“ Gross!! I would've guessed this card was almost 10 years older than it is. ” -DanD

I dislike cards where it is difficult to see the name of the player on them.

I wish I had this one...I was doing NASCAR only in 2008 and it was my worst year in the hobby, I got less than 100 cards during the entire year...

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.
