“ Very nice vintage card. I believe he just died. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Great relevance on this pick for card of the day. I heard at the funeral Pedro put him in the ground. ” -addysdaddy

“ This card couldn't come at a better time after his passing away just a few days ago. This man was trully Mr. baseball himself. He was in baseball 'till his dying day. Along with Tommy Lasorda, I don't think there's any one who has loved the game more. ” -deporcoruña

“ RCotD is so randomly timely sometimes! RIP Don. ” -jackal726

“ I can't help but think this one isn't quite so random. Anyway, during their run of World Series titles in the late 90s, after a particularly bad loss, Steinbrenner ordered the entire coaching and training staff into his office for one of King George's legendary tirades. At one point, he screamed, "If there is anybody in this room who thinks they are doing everything they can to help this team win, you can leave right now!" One man stood up and walked out - Zimmer. According to people who were in that room, it was all anyone could do to keep from laughing. ” -UNC_Samurai

“ Amazingly timely. I've often thought there should be some kind of trending feature that brings up searches of players who are currently in the news. RIP Popeye- an original Met. ” -Dave Sosidka

“ Companies just don't produce sets like these any more. Too many chase cards and inserts. I miss the days when an insert was a sticker or a stick of rock hard gum. ” -koloth42

“ Great card! position, logo, team name. Back is super. Good cartoon for kids (which I was back then) and complete stats. One photo on the front is all you need to make a fantastic card. ” -NJdevils

“ Don Zimmer and the '59 Topps set are two of my favorite things about baseball, ever. Also, this is the first ((of very few)) years where player names are typeset in all lower case letters, i think the only other such design is the 1971 Topps set. ” -revnorb

“ A great baseball man. I was long to be born when he was manager of my Red Sox, and even though when he passed he was with the hated Rays, I cried. The game may never see such a dedicated man. ” -jlaz10

FAQ: Is the Random Card of the Day really random? ANS: Yes, any connections with current events are purely coincidental. RIP Don Zimmer. ” -Admin
