“ Tanner played from 1955-1962 with the Milwaukee Braves, Cubs, Indians and Angels. Career Stats: .261 Average, 21 Home Runs and 105 RBI. Tanner then became a manager for the White Sox, Athletics, Pirates and Braves. In 1972, he was named Manager of the Year while with the White Sox. He won a World Series in 1979 while managing the Pirates. He is the father of former Major Leaguer Bruce Tanner who played one season with the White Sox in 1985.
