The Quest for a '52 Mantle (cont'd)

Trade #5 - November 8, 2007

Upping the ante in the star-power department from Kelvin Martin, came this PSA 10, gleaming bright, 1985 Topps Stickers #69 Dan Marino card.

This deal opened Bryon up to a new level of trading possibilities.

Trade #6 - December 12, 2007

As someone else put it, an obscure Cowboys player, he had no problem unloading, but a PSA 10 of a 2nd year Marino, one of the most collected players, took over a month. But patience paid off, as the project ventured for the first time into basketball cards - PSA 9's of Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, John Stockton, and Reggie Miller, the latter four rookie cards, the lot emcompassing the key cards of the 1988-89 Fleer set.

Trade #7 - January 1, 2008

The basketball cards generated a good bit of interest, although the holidays slowed the transacting down, but arriving in Bryon's hands with the new year was this PSA 10 1994 Flair #340 Alex Rodriguez.

Trade #8 - January 10, 2008

Well, he finally did it, in less than 4 months, Bryon had been able to parlay a 5 cent card into a Mickey Mantle. Not a '52 Mantle, mind you, but a Mantle nonetheless.

Set: 1968 Topps

Card: #280 Mickey Mantle

Trade #9 - January 17, 2008

Bryon took a lot of heat for making this trade, Roger Clemens not being at the height of his popularity following the Mitchell Report, but the upgrade in pricing couldn't be denied.
