When I say disposing I don't mean throwing them out.  I am well past actively collecting sports cards and would like some advise of divesting myself of the majority of my collection.  I have all major sports but mostly baseball and hockey.  Baseball cards go back to the 1960s, hockey for the most part back to the 1990s.  Football and Basketball are more scattered, no basketball probably prior to the 1990s, and some football scattered back to the 1970s.

There's a lot of threads about this in the forums if you wish to search, but from what I gathered it seemed that selling in lots on Ebay or the Facebook Marketplace might prove to get you the most you can get for your cards. If you just want to be rid of them, selling them to a card store will likely not get you as much as the cards deserve but you would be able to move on from them swiftly. Donating the overproduced cards from the 90s would get them out of your hands and maybe into someone who might enjoy them for free.

All depends on a few things.

1.  How fast you want to move them

2.  How many cards you have and what kind.

3. How much money you think they are worth.  Max amount or dumping them.

4.  How much time and effort are you willing to put into it.

As that will narrow down how to get rid of them,

Maybe you could find a company to sell them for you also if you don't have time to do it yourself
