Stick It..(no don’t)

Well, yesterday was all about licking and sticking with tattoos. Today it’s O-Pee-Chee stickers. When they first came out I was sticking these in the provided albums and trying my best to line up the spots perfectly. I never could and it just made the whole thing look messy. I was impressed by my friends who could make the album look perfect, although I suspect adult parents might have helped.

Now that I am older (wiser? more mature? more OCD?) I wanted to collect the stickers separately from the Album so I could look through them and not have to worry about sticking them in properly.

1989-90 was the last time O-Pee-Chee actually did stickers (Panini took over that market in Canada and there are a few Topps ones as well).

So this is the last set and I needed just one more sticker. And it was a monster (for a sticker).

See the front was already a popular choice as it had fan favourite Doug Wilson & a foil All Star of Chris Chelios (Habs are always popular)

But it was the back that makes it super cool.

They did a 34 card (do we call it a card?) set with the sticker backs of Future Stars and All-Stars. The one I was missing just happened to be Patrick Roy. He’s kinda a big deal and made trading for this just a little more time consuming.

But I got em. And now its done.

1989-90 O-Pee-Chee Hockey Stickers 182/182 for 100%

It’s a good day!
